Peter McEvoy is the longest serving executive producer of ABC TV's Media Watch, the Australian national broadcaster's unique critique of journalists and media standards. Media Watch combines humour and analysis to produce popular and entertaining weekly television. It criticises all media including the ABC, a fact that has brought Media Watch into conflict with ABC colleagues and managers. Peter McEvoy will talk about the risks of biting the hand that feeds you and show clips from some of the disclosures that have made the programme essential but anxious viewing for the Australian media and journalists. Peter McEvoy has received Australia's most prestigious media awards, including the Gold Walkley, four other Walkleys, and The Human Rights Award. Recently at the Reuters Institute in Oxford he has been studying systems designed to promote responsibility and trustworthiness in the media through openness and interaction, and developing a interactive TV program to promote political discussion and participation.
